Local Knowledge. Community Ownership. Lasting Impact.
TIRMAMO is a community-based organization dedicated to improving the lives and livelihoods of pastoralist communities in Marsabit County.
We understand that sustainable development cannot be imposed from outside. It must be shaped by the people who live the reality every day.
That is why we work alongside communities to identify priorities, develop solutions and build local capacity.
Our work combines community knowledge, professional expertise and strategic partnerships to address interconnected challenges including education, livelihoods, climate change, health, peace and governance.
Our Work. Our Communities. Our Future.
Our programs respond to the realities facing pastoralist communities while creating opportunities for people to become more resilient and self-reliant.
Education & Literacy
We promote civic education, adult learning, literacy and rights awareness to help communities build knowledge, confidence and meaningful participation in decision-making.

We strengthen economic opportunities through livestock value chains, enterprise development, savings groups, skills training, cooperatives and diversified livelihoods.
Climate Resilience
We help communities prepare for climate shocks through water conservation, drought preparedness, environmental conservation and climate-smart practices.
Youth & Women Empowerment
We support skills development, leadership, economic participation, mentorship and opportunities for women and young people.
Peace & Social Cohesion
We support dialogue, mediation, early warning, peace committees, youth peace initiatives and community-based approaches to resource sharing.

We promote health-seeking behavior, maternal and child health, nutrition, clean water, sanitation, hygiene and community health education.
Governance & Community Capacity
We strengthen community leadership, civic participation, accountability, institutional capacity and community engagement in policy processes.
